GUARDIANS OF THE EARTH: BATTLING ALIEN INVADERS
2024
When Invasion Goes Unnoticed
Not all invasions come from space—some creep in unnoticed, threatening ecosystems, agriculture, and even human health. Biosecurity expert Arman Pili shares the urgent reality of invasive species, and we brought his message to life with a highly detailed animated world. Using a striking yellow palette and ominous black ink to represent the spread, our animation captures both the danger and the hope in tackling this global crisis.

Mission Briefing
Forget Darth Vader and Poison Ivy, could invasive alien species and viruses be the world's next supervillain? Scientist and global Bio-invasion and Biosecurity Specialist Arman Pili certainly thinks so. As he says in the film: “It's not just a problem in biodiversity conservation, it's a problem in almost every aspect of human life”.
Here at Binkyfilms we designed a highly detailed animated world which illustrated the far-reaching spread of toxic alien species. We had fun animating the various characters who were oblivious to their role in the transmission. Through his narration, Arman brings years of research on the topic into a simple and clear message about the devastating consequences of the spread of alien species.

Strategy in Motion
Colour plays a pivotal role in conveying the film's themes. We employed a monochrome yellow palette throughout, accentuated by black ink drops symbolising the ominous spread of the alien species. This choice imbued the diverse animated scenes with a sense of foreboding, underscoring the impact of the situation across the world. However, a shift occurs towards the end as the globe illuminates in full colour, symbolising the optimism and hope inherent in Arman's response to the issue.
