SNOOZILLA: CONQUERING THE SLEEP MONSTER

2024

Meet Snoozilla—The Face of Sleep Apnea Awareness

How do you make sleep apnea relatable? You turn it into a monster. With Dr. Amal Mohamed Dameeris, we created Snoozilla—a quirky, orange-furred creature tackling OSA’s daily struggles. Funny, endearing, and educational, this animation makes raising awareness anything but a snooze.

The Big Picture

Did you know that obstructive sleep apnea (OPA) is the most common sleep-related breathing disorder? This disorder causes people to repeatedly stop and start breathing while they sleep. We teamed up with Dr Amal Mohamed Dameeris to bring this issue out of the dark.

Dr Dameeris is a Medical Physician, science communicator and scientist skilled in diagnostic, medical management, analytic and problem solving skills. In short - she knows her stuff. Dr Dameer is passionate about raising awareness of obstructive sleep apnea in the younger generation. Binkyfilms was tasked with making this sleeping monster of a problem visible. So that’s how we started - making the problem into a monster.

Strategy in Motion

We are proud of the sleeping monster we brought to life. Our first challenge was to make our audience empathise with a monster - and we think we passed with vivid colours. Meet Snoozilla, as we affectionately call him, with his endearing big eyes and vibrant orange fur, crafted to exude cuteness, quirkiness and just a hint of spookiness. Snoozilla had to don a monitoring helmet and electrodes to monitor his sleep. How would you survive getting on a public bus covered in monitoring equipment looking a bit like Frankenstein?
