Project Overview

Our Role

  • Organisation: NSW Department of Education

  • Target Audience: School Children

  • Platforms: Department Website

A collaboration between NSW Education and the Southern Cross School of Distance Education led to the creation of this interactive educational project, designed to explore key curriculum learning areas through video, demonstrations, worksheets, and electronic resources.

As a cross-curricular resource, this series provides an in-depth exploration of the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme, covering science, geography, history, and Indigenous Studies in a format that is accessible to students, teachers, and the broader public.

The story of the Snowy Mountains Scheme is brought to life through oral histories, archival film, and historical photographs, alongside insights from industry experts. The series weaves together historical narratives, scientific explanations, and geographical significance, making the complexities of the Scheme engaging and digestible for students

Binky Films was engaged to film, edit, and post-produce this series of 12 videos, integrating custom motion graphics to enhance learning and engagement. The educational motion graphics break down complex scientific concepts—such as renewable energy generation, hydroelectric power mechanics, and environmental impacts—into clear, engaging visual explanations.

Commissioned by the New South Wales Department of Education, this learning resource was designed to be innovative, educational, and entertaining. Binky Films collaborated with subject matter expects and education designers to transform this significant Australian landmark into an educational experience that keeps students engaged while deepening their understanding of Australia’s energy history and future.
